How to Set Up Your Home Office
Save time and money by working from home. You will need a home office (dining room, bedroom, den, etc.) that is quiet. You should always keep in mind that you are trusted to create a working environment in your home that does not detrimentally affect the experience of the customer of the Clients with whom you are interacting.
A good home office includes:
A computer (Windows Vista is not currently supported).
High Speed Internet access.
A POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) line or VoIP/Digital Phone Service/Cable Telephony with a corded phone.*
A telephone headset with keypad.
A VoIP headset.
A desk with ample space.
A comfortable desk chair.
Proper lighting.
*If you choose to service using VoIP/Digital, please ensure that the service you choose works using a fully hard-wired phone. Servicing is not permitted from cell phones, softphones (phone lines through your computer) or any other providers that do not require a hard-wired-physical phone such as: magicJack, Skype, Google Voice, or Vonage.
A "hard" phone is a physical, hard-wired desk phone that connects to your telephone service and has a handset or headset connected to it. A "soft" phone is telephone-like software that runs on your computer. It requires the use of a computer's speakers and microphone OR a headset connected to your computer.
Softphones are NOT permitted for servicing as they do not provide the necessary voice quality. A small number of client programs currently prohibit the use of VoIP while servicing so, for now, a POTS line is required to service accounts.
